Not worth the asking price, as you've seen everything in the first hour, and there's some repetition required to progress in the story, and no randomness on each "run".The difficulty is very steep, and the levelling aspect could be better handled.. That's probably the game's strongest suit.. Caravan is a trading game on the Arabian Peninsula during the time of 1,001 nights. It's a casual game with simple decisions. Buy low, sell high. Decide on your trading route. Take care that the caravan always has enough water. Additional crew gives different advantages. A trader improves prices when he haggles successfully. Scouts can gain windfall profits while travelling, mercenaries and scoundrels help in battles.The pace of the game is sedate. The start is slow until you're able to get the first donkeys for your caravan to get carriage space for the trade goods. But even later on, the game is a grind. Travel forth and back, gain experience, earn money to improve your crew. Beside the developing backstory, there's not much variation in events and mechanisms. It's obvious that the developer usually does casual mobile games. The first hours are enjoyable, the second half of my playthrough was just ok. Can be recommended as mindless relaxation after work when no major brain or dexterity activity is wanted.. Quite enjoyed this, got it in a bundle and expected to have a quick go then delete, but it becomes addictive.The core of the game is travelling from city to city trading cheap items from one place and selling for a higher price in another. There's more to it though with quests, battles, scavenging, upgrading, recruiting, risk taking, etc, keeps the game entertaining to the end.. Painfully, horribly bad beginning. Just awful. The other reviews say it gets better after a few hours, so I am going to try it a bit longer, but I am posting this review in case I forget because the beginning of the game is just appallingly horrible, to the extent that you assume none of the developers ever played the game. You follow delivery quests around by making the required clicks. The closest thing to an interesting decision is whether to pursue random events that will kill you, because everything will kill you at the start. Of course, they will not kill you quickly, because every click leads to a 5-10 second transition animation. It is like a walking simulator, only in third person so you can watch the characters use the same walking animations every time you leave or enter towns, random events, etc.. Stealing an idea I saw done here to help me get through my huge backlog of games on Steam. It is what I like to call my "1 Hour Playtime Reviews Because My Steam Library Has Gotten Stupid Big and I Don't Want to Regret How I Spend My Money Challenge." After an awful experience in the game on my list before this, Caravan was the sweet relief that I needed. An Organ Trail like game with a funa and addicting trading system that requires careful planning and some luck. My poor man's stats were pretty low throughout my hour with it, so I never succeeded at a single barter attempt to get more, but was making decent money playing the market. Then I got stuck fighting a ghoul that murdered the crap out of me. Super fun! I do want to keep playing, where I shall avenge my fallen first main character "That Guy" and murder all the ghouls I can find.. I'm going through my entire library and putting a minimum of an hour into each game and then reviewing them, here is mine for Caravan:So my hours say I've played it for 9 hours but thats wrong. I mean technically its right, but its wrong. I played for my minimum of one hour and then went to sleep, forgetting that the game was running. That being said, its alright. Its a trading game, its one of those situations that I need a MEH button. But I can't fault the devs for making something thats meh to me. Sometimes your game just doesn't reach some people.. A fresh new setting for the exploration manager game genre. If you like one thousand and one nights you will love this.. Caravan is a drop of fresh water in the sands of everyday gaming. The game itself is a tactical indie game with RPG elements where you take the role of a caravan master and all it's responsabilities. On your jurney you will have to manage your crew, your assets and you will have the chance to solve your encounters with a few different approaches to choose from. It has a nice background music, some new ideas, challenging gameplay, also a nice artsyle but it would be even better if it would be all drawn by hand. I do recommend the game but I have to mention that the savegame of the first 3 hours I've played simply disappeared as if I haven't even started the game.
